It is worthy to say that roaming around the city of Davao is not so pricey, since almost every places of interest can be reach via public transportation. You can ride a jeepney as far as Insular Village (T’boli Weaving Center is located) as cheaply as P8.00.

Anyway, my first day was more on city walk, sightseeing and familiarization on the how to’s. To wrap it up, it goes like this:

  • Check-in to a much cheaper hotel. Green Windows Dormitel in FTC Tower offers a budget accommodation good for backpackers as low as @P188/night/pax . I will be posting a separate review about this dormitel in my next blog.

First destination: Long Hua Temple

  • Just infront FTC Tower, rode a jeep with a sign “Claveria” then alight in Ateneo de Davao(college building), then rode a jeep going to DMC(landmark BPI). Turn right then just walk straight to the Temple. It takes about 3mins to walk.

Davao Museum

I rode a cab this time, since Davao Museum is inside a village. Just tell the driver to drop you to Davao Museum inside Insular Village. That approximately cost me P60.00

Since I didn’t let the taxi driver wait for me. I just walked going out and looked for the T’boli Weaving Center. The instruction given by the museum attendant was, T’boli Center is just 1 block away from the museum outside the village. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to locate it. Everyone seems doesn’t know what T’boli Weaving Center is.

It was already lunch time. I opted to have my lunch in Trellis N’ Vine since I was craving for Chicken Biryani. Trellis N’ Vine is located in Torres Street. A lot of restos around torres street and mostly a place to go during night time since there are also bars and ktv bars around. One serving of Chicken Biryani is good for 4 persons already, I was surprised when I saw it how big it was for person @250.00.

And because my dorm is just near torres street I’ve decided to take a nap first before I proceed to my next stop. From Torres Street, I took a pedicab going to FTC Tower @P8.00.

Next stop: People’s Park

  • From FTC Tower, I took a jeepney with a sign “Claveria” then I alight in Apo View Hotel. People’s Park is situated just at the back of Apo View Hotel.
  • I love this park, I must say. Aside from the stiff checking of belongings, the park is well maintained and awesomely designed.

My first day was so tiring with lots of walking and taking some pictures but it was worth it. At night time we went to Matina Town Square to have our dinner and tried the most talk-about durian coffee in Blugre Coffee and we call it a day.
